I recently had the honor of being asked to display my artwork at the Level Ground Festival this year in Nashville. Spanning Friday and Saturday (October 7-8), it’s a film and arts festival that seeks to create a safe space for dialogue about faith, gender, and sexuality through art, film, and other media. The team there is setting up a show called Exploring Ritual, where art viewers are encouraged to consider the work in light of their experience and understanding of the Divine.
I’ll be presenting some work from the beginning of a new series based on the tradition of the Stations of the Cross.
There’s a rich history of the Stations of the Cross in Christianity, fine art, and culture. I’m glad to be exploring them as a template for creating a body of work that considers how we approach the Divine, and how we interact with Spirit.
The gallery opens on Friday October 7th at noon at Hound Dog Commons. An opening reception with curator Leslie Foster is scheduled for 6pm that evening. Hound Dog Commons is at 305 Douglas Avenue, Nashville TN 37207.
